administrators and teams comprised of teachers and staff are
encouraged to apply for grants from Edison International as part of
the company's New Era Awards for Excellence in K-12 Education
competition.
Providing grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, the New Era
awards are available to educators at public and private schools within
the area served by Southern California Edison, the largest unit of
Edison International. Educators can submit an on-line application at
www.edison.com/newera. The awards are presented to recipients who
develop programs that support underserved students in one or more of
the following areas:
- Science and/or mathematics
- College and/or work-force readiness
- Environmental programs
- Energy efficiency and energy conservation programs
- After-school programs enhancing learning and achievement.

students for academic success, higher education and a competitive work
